Business world is on LinkedIn. People talk about their success. They share the fate of others. They also give tips on topics such as application procedures, how to provide the right leadership, and what developments are taking place in your own company.

But it’s not just employees who use the platform, it has become a popular tool for companies as well. LinkedIn has become one of the largest business platforms. Not only are staffing service providers now writing to potential candidates via the platform, companies are also posting job offers on LinkedIn.

Anyone interested can apply directly to the company with one click; Their own profile is already their CV, which eliminates the manual work of creating application documents. At least to some extent.

These jobs are increasing rapidly on the platform

LinkedIn evaluated which job profiles received the most interest in Switzerland last year. While last year’s focus was primarily on IT occupations, this year’s list is more diverse.

Financial advisors are ahead. Every company needs number crunchers. More than ever, especially in times of inflation, the threat of recession and high cost pressure. They analyze the data and use figures to clearly show where companies have savings potential.

HR experts follow finance experts. A shortage of qualified personnel is still widespread in this country. HR offers a way to counter this. On the one hand, it advertises positions and gets to know candidates first, before the search department does. It conducts the primary selection and decides who will be considered and who will not be considered. HR employees are also the people who oversee the internal talent pool. Support programmes, individual goals or career discussions – HR is always here for you.

What stands out about this year’s trending jobs is that they are more diverse. Last year, certain IT jobs like data engineer, site reliability engineer, backend developer, and Dev Ops engineer were very popular. When asked why the list is less IT-heavy this year, LinkedIn DACH Country Manager Barbara Wittmann replies: “The ranking of trending jobs shows the developments that will shape the job market today and in the future.”

This doesn’t mean that IT jobs are no longer relevant: “The IT sector in Switzerland is booming, so job seekers with suitable skills still have very good opportunities in the job market.” The list also shows that things are changing and new elements are being added.

Invest specifically in further education

Continuous further education is necessary to stay relevant: “Further education is one of the most sustainable trends in business. “With the impact of rapid developments in the field of artificial intelligence, we predict that the knowledge and skills that will be required for many jobs in the future will change by 65 percent by 2030.”

He believes that AI in particular will take over many small, monotonous and frustrating daily tasks in the future, allowing focus on the strategic or creative aspects of the business. “Soft skills such as communication skills, analytical thinking and leadership qualities are becoming increasingly important. Country manager Wittmann concludes: “I would now specifically recommend employees to invest in these.”
