LinkedIn evaluated which job profiles received the most interest in Switzerland last year. While last year’s focus was primarily on IT occupations, this year’s list is more diverse.

Artificial intelligence developers are in third place. The most talked about topic last year was artificial intelligence, and every company was affected by it to some extent. Accordingly, the interest in people with this professional profile has also increased.

IT jobs have not lost their importance

What stands out about this year’s trending jobs is that they are more diverse. Last year, certain IT jobs like data engineer, site reliability engineer, backend developer, and Dev Ops engineer were very popular. When asked why the list is less IT-heavy this year, LinkedIn DACH Country Manager Barbara Wittmann replies: “The ranking of trending jobs shows the developments that will shape the job market today and in the future.”

This doesn’t mean that IT jobs are no longer relevant: “The IT sector in Switzerland is booming, so job seekers with suitable skills still have very good opportunities in the job market.” The list also shows that things are changing and new elements are being added.

Invest specifically in further education

Continuous further education is necessary to stay relevant: “Further education is one of the most sustainable trends in business. “With the impact of rapid developments in the field of artificial intelligence, we predict that the knowledge and skills that will be required for many jobs in the future will change by 65 percent by 2030.”

He believes that AI in particular will take over many small, monotonous and frustrating daily tasks in the future, allowing focus on the strategic or creative aspects of the business. “Soft skills such as communication skills, analytical thinking and leadership qualities are becoming increasingly important. Country manager Wittmann concludes: “I would now specifically recommend employees to invest in these.”
