Apple, Microsoft and Google are the world’s most valuable brands. This is shown by the Brand Finance Global Rankings 2024. The consultancy company has been selecting the 500 most important brands every year since 2007. The first Swiss company ranks 92nd.
A regular guest of recent years is missing from the podium: Amazon is no longer among the top 3 brands for the first time since 2015. In fact, in 2023, Amazon was at the forefront. The online retailer needs to settle for fourth place. Its brand value is higher than the previous year, at $309 billion, but the US company still lags behind.
Apple, on the other hand, has made significant gains: Its brand value, which was 298 billion dollars last year, increased to 517 billion dollars. 74 percent growth! According to Brand Finance, 50 percent of survey respondents think Apple products are expensive but cheap.
Chinese chipmaker Nvidia was the company that grew the most: its brand value increased by 163 percent to $44.5 billion. The company is the main chip supplier in the field of artificial intelligence.
Social media is on the rise
Social media brands TikTok, Facebook and Instagram are also worth much more than they were a year ago. Instagram rose from 26th to 13th place with a brand value of 70 billion.
Deutsche Telekom also prevailed: knocking Verizon out of the top 10. This makes the German group the most valuable telecommunications brand in the world.
It is unlikely that Elon Musk will be satisfied with the ranking: Tesla lost 9 places and ranked 18th. Its brand value fell from 66 billion dollars to 58 billion dollars.
Nestlé is the most valuable Swiss brand
201 of the 500 most valuable brands come from the USA. 72 of the companies are based in China. A total of 8 Swiss brands entered the top 500.
Nestlé finished best of these in 92nd place. However, the food giant lost 7 places, and its brand value fell from 22 billion dollars to 21 billion dollars.
