350 demonstrators have been marching from Küblis GR to Klosters GR in sub-zero temperatures since this morning. “Wandervogel”, as the organization calls itself, wants to demonstrate against the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Protesters’ banners read “To hell with capitalism”, “Eat the Rich” and “Make them pay”. With the raise, they want to fight against capitalism, climate-damaging economic models and abuse of power. “We have zero trust in those who are big and powerful there,” an organizer from Strike-WEF told the Keystone-SDA news agency. Both the climate issue and social justice have not improved in recent years.

More protesters than expected

The march protest was attended by many more participants than expected: “Tages-Anzeiger” wrote about 100 people a few days ago. More than three times as many are currently hiking in the Graubsunud mountains. Demonstrators will head to Davos tomorrow.

During the protest march, activists walk along small walking trails; This is the same route as last year. This was actually planned differently. But the authorities thwarted the demonstrators’ plans: “We were not allowed to go onto Canton street,” the organizer continued. According to the authorities, the canton road is very important as a rescue axis in case of emergency.

But the demonstrators did not like this at all. Because demonstrations are less visible away from the cantonal streets. “Tages-Anzeiger” wrote a few days ago that they therefore wanted to appeal the decision of the Graubeğen Administrative Court in the Federal Court of Lausanne. However, according to the government in Grisons, high visibility is guaranteed in Küblis and also on the Bahnhofplatz in Klosters.

Extra train for the last stage

Demonstrators are also not allowed to march in Davos. On the last stretch from Davos Wolfgang to Postplatz, climate activists board a special train. Cost: approximately 3,500 francs. It is financed by the federal government, the WEF, the canton and the municipality of Davos.

Over 5,000 francs were raised on the Crowdify platform to finance the show. The protest march, held for the first time in 2020, ends with a large rally in Davos on Sunday. The demonstrators marching there join forces with Juso Graubinden. The young party wants to send a signal against capitalism with the anti-WEF demo.
