The China Market Regulatory Authority announced on Friday in Beijing that cars coming off the assembly line between August 26, 2014 and December 20, 2023 were affected. Two branches of the electric car maker in Shanghai and Beijing presented a necessary plan for this.

Additionally, according to the authority, just over 7,500 imported Model S and Model X vehicles produced between October 26, 2022 and November 16, 2023 are experiencing problems with the door lock control.

In the statement, Tesla wants to solve the problems in the vehicles through a software update, so affected customers do not need to go to the service. The official warned owners of affected vehicles to drive carefully.

Tesla has been doing very well in the world’s largest automobile market lately. The US electric car pioneer said it delivered 484,507 cars to end customers in the fourth quarter. The Group reached its sales target by selling approximately 1.81 million automobiles in the whole of 2023.

However, domestic automaker BYD is facing increasing competition in the market of the world’s second largest economy. The Chinese sold more than 526,000 electric cars in the fourth quarter, surpassing Tesla and coming out on top.
