Highlights of return trip shortly after New Year
December 22 and 23 are considered days with peak passenger traffic at airports during the Christmas period. For the return journey, it is shortly after New Year’s Eve.
Zurich-Kloten Airport experienced the biggest drop in passenger numbers in 2020 in the first year of the corona pandemic. At that time, the number of travelers was dropping to 17,000 in the days just before Christmas. A year later it doubled to 34,000. A year ago, the average for holidays between December 23 and January 2 was 65,000 per day. (SDA)
