Hotel overnight stays in Switzerland increased again in November.

Overnight stays in hotels in November increased by 7.3 percent compared to the same month last year, the Federal Statistical Office (BFS) reported on Friday in its first estimate. It is stated that the increase is mainly due to foreign guests. Here the increase was 12.5 percent. However, the overnight stay rate of Swiss guests was 2.8 percent higher.

This meant that the Swiss hotel industry was able to build on the good figures in the first ten months of November. From January to October, the number of overnight stays increased by 9.2 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 36.2 million.

Even compared to the previous record in 2019, this represented a difference of 4.5 percent after ten months. A total of 39.6 million overnight stays were recorded in the last year before Corona. Whether the points will drop this year or not depends on the start of the winter season. But that’s how everything looks right now.

BFS will release final, definitive figures on overnight stays in November on January 16, 2024. (SDA)
