The US Federal Reserve leaves the interest rate unchanged between 5.25 and 5.5 percent. This is already the third interest rate cut in a row. Finally, central bank boss Jerome Powell (70) increased interest rates by 0.25 percentage points in July.

Experts were waiting to breathe. They assume that interest rates in the US will fall by a total of one percentage point in 2024. Inflation in the US was still at 3.1 percent in November.

This is followed by SNB and ECB.

On Thursday, December 14, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) will also decide whether it wants to increase interest rates again. The basic interest rate in this country is 1.75 percent and has been so since July. In September, central bank boss Thomas Jordan (60) did not raise interest rates.

The situation was different for the European Central Bank (ECB): In September, it increased the policy rate by 0.5 points to 4.5 percent. The ECB will decide on the next interest rate move on December 14.
