Telecommunications provider Sunrise is modernizing its corporate structure. The company wrote Monday morning that 200 layoffs were being considered.

Taking into account natural fluctuations, internal changes and possible early retirement, Sunrise expects to cut approximately 180 jobs. This represents approximately 6.6 percent of the 2,722 full-time positions available.

The aim is to further streamline the overall corporate structure. This primarily concerns management positions and functions that do not have direct customer contact in all areas of the organization. Sunrise stores and customer service with direct customer contact are not the focus of the planned layoffs.

Sunrise has initiated a consultation process with employee representatives and the Syndicom union regarding the planned redundancies. Once this consultation process has been completed, Sunrise will make a decision on possible redundancies.

These will be implemented from mid-January until the end of March 2024 at the latest, with the majority of layoffs taking place in January. According to Sunrise CEO André Krause (53), a comprehensive social plan has already been developed.
