It is now out: Torsten Friedrich (46) takes over the position of boss at Denner. It took a long time for Migros subsidiary Mario Irminger (58) to find his successor. He rose to the top in May and took over the orange giant’s job as the boss of Migros.

The Leipzig football player has a manager with discounting in his blood. He spent his entire professional career at German discount store Lidl. He started working as country manager at Lidl Switzerland in November 2020. Then came a surprising departure in August for “personal reasons”, as Friedrich explained. It is possible that he is already in contact with Migros. He did not want to comment on Blick’s question.

Is there a competition clause in the contract?

Although his appointment as Denner’s boss is not surprising, the timing of his appointment at the Migros subsidiary is surprising. According to Denner’s statement, Friedrich will not start until January 1, 2025. That’s a pretty long time for a sabbatical. Did Friedrich’s contract with Lidl have a non-compete clause? Be quiet. The investigation into Denner is still pending.

Praised for his “good intuition and deep understanding of daily affairs”, Friedrich is married and the father of two daughters. The family lives on Lake Constance in the canton of Thurgau. Adrian Bodmer (59) will continue to work at Denner on a temporary basis until Friedrich takes up residence at Denner headquarters in Zurich-Binz in more than a year.
