According to TCS’s fifth annual representative survey on electromobility 2023, released on Wednesday, other reasons opposing the purchase of electric cars are price, cited by 41 percent of respondents, and range by 34 percent.

Despite the slight decrease in the desire to buy, more than half of the Swiss population (55 percent) is in favor of the authorities encouraging charging stations with subsidies. As last year, 56 percent continue to support the tax cut (-5).

It was stated that more than half (53 percent) of electric car owners who participated in the survey have their own parking area or garage with electrical connection. The main reason for buying an electric car is still the desire for sustainability. However, among those surveyed, this value fell by six points to 47 percent.

The ongoing electricity shortage and resulting rising electricity prices were said to have little impact on the willingness to purchase electric cars. Only 11 percent of survey respondents postpone a purchase for this reason. He came third last year.

As part of the electromobility 2023 TCS barometer, the gfs.bern research institute surveyed 1,004 people aged 18 and over between 10 and 19 October.
