As temperatures drop these days, expectations for the upcoming ski season also increase. Many are hoping to ski down the slopes in a white winter landscape this year. Compared to last season, some slopes remained green on the right and left. But the signs are bad: the first ski areas are forced to postpone the start of the season.

Titlis mountain railways had to postpone the start of the ski season until November 4. “Warm autumn days and a lack of natural snow do not allow preparation of glacier slopes at this time,” the railways wrote in a statement. Their teams are already in the starting blocks to prepare the tracks as soon as possible.

Start is still open for some

The start of the season in Graubinden also needs to be postponed. This weekend should have started in the Diavolezza-Lagalb and Pontresina-Languard ski areas. Now, as “Blue News” writes, the start has been postponed for a week. Even making artificial snow has not been possible yet due to high temperatures.

Other ski areas do not delay the start of skiing, but leave the exact date open. For example, Arosa GR. Mountain railways will start operating here from October 28. “Skiing and snowboarding is possible on weekends, as long as snow conditions allow,” the ski area said. Other ski areas, such as the Jungfrau Ski Area, also indicate that adjustments may still be made to the season.
