At the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok next to the Siam Paragon shopping centre, a police officer neutralized the armed suspect following a shooting at the mall on Tuesday afternoon.

3 people died and 4 people were injured in an armed attack on a shopping mall in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Thai emergency services announced this on Tuesday. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said the 14-year-old attacker surrendered and was arrested.

Three injuries were initially mentioned. The incident took place in a shopping mall in the city center popular with tourists and local people. Hundreds of people fled the building, an AFP correspondent in the area reported. In the videos shared online, visitors who panicked after the shooting were seen running away from the shopping mall. As a result of the attack, dozens of police and ambulance vehicles were parked in front of Siam Paragon Shopping Center, one of Thailand’s most famous shopping addresses.

The incident took place almost a year after one of the bloodiest days in Thailand’s recent history. A former police officer attacked a kindergarten in the north of the Southeast Asian country with a knife and gun, killing 24 children and 12 adults. Many citizens in Thailand have guns. There are victims of shootings almost every week. (AFP)
