“Flight cancellations will come into force at the end of October and will be communicated via email to all affected passengers in the coming days,” wrote Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary, 62. Guests will be offered a rebooking or refund depending on their wishes.

Ryanair expects only 14 new planes to be delivered this autumn instead of the hoped-for 27. Therefore, fewer aircraft need to be deployed at airports in Charleroi, Dublin, Porto, Cologne and some cities in Italy. It was said that Ryanair did not have spare aircraft due to maintenance work on its fleet this winter.

The Irish company did not initially say how many flights would be cancelled. “We sincerely apologize to our passengers for the inconvenience caused by delivery delays this winter,” O’Leary said.

It was stated that Ryanair is working closely with Boeing and its supplier Spirit to minimize delivery delays. Ryanair is planning a total of 57 new Boeing aircraft for the busy summer travel season. (SDA)
