Tamedia informed employees of the plans on Thursday morning. An employee confirmed to Keystone-SDA important details of the savings program that “persoenlich.com” reported on Thursday.

The layoffs in German-speaking Switzerland are part of a total 6 million franc savings package. As announced on Wednesday, 3.5 million francs of this is in French-speaking Switzerland. The remaining 2.5 million francs can be attributed to Tamedia media titles in German-speaking Switzerland.

The latest austerity measures follow a comprehensive austerity package in recent years. Over the past three years, the editorial teams of Tamedia titles have already had to save 70 million francs.
