The extent of the property can be predicted from the air.

What a beautiful property! Alfred Gantner (55) is building his dream villa in a prime location in low-tax Meggen LU, directly on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The former UBS apprentice is the founder of the Partners Group and is currently a board member. His fortune is estimated at two billion francs. Something left for a prestigious home.

The property is the size of five football fields – 35,000 square meters, writes the “Luzerner Zeitung”. This makes it larger than Roger Federer’s (42) estate on Lake Zurich. The tennis legend will soon reside in six homes on the 16,000-square-foot site.

160 million francs

Mega villa Gantners is nearing completion. Impressive baseline data: a 920-square-foot garage, a 730-square-foot guesthouse and a large pool (260 square meters). Of course, a boathouse should not be missing. The icing on the cake is a tea house right on the water. Estimated cost of the new building: 160 million Swiss francs.

The facility has a hectic history. Commodity trader Marc Rich (1934 – 2013) lived on the shores of Lake Lucerne until his death in 2013. After that the property went to a Canadian art dealer. Gantner acquired it in 2015. He had Rich’s villa demolished. And build your modern house. It is not yet clear when it will move.

“Something Good Happened”

Everyone at Meggen is happy with the powerful taxpayer’s move: “Mr. Gantner got everyone involved in his project from the start and it turned out to be something really good. “We warmly welcome him and his family,” Meggen Mayor Urs Brücker tells the “Luzerner Zeitung”. (pbe)
