Unlike the Saron mortgage, the interest rates on fixed-rate mortgages are based on the yield on federal bonds. As a rule, long-term interest rates are higher. Medium and long-term interest rates have already been declining since the beginning of the year. Whether you can expect further relief here remains to be seen. It should continue to be worth sticking with the Saron mortgage.

Unlike a new flat-rate mortgage, you’re probably still paying less and can get a buffer by setting aside the money you’ve saved.
