All 250 Lavazza machines on the platforms will be dismantled.

Three minutes until the train leaves. Drop by for a takeaway for a coffee. Others are already waiting there with the same idea. Two minutes left. Then brew a cup of coffee in the Lavazza machine on the platform. But soon there will be none.

Since 2016, about 250 Lavazza coffee machines have been installed at Swiss train stations. According to CH Media newspapers, SBB will soon remove all caffeine dispensers from train stations. From next year, the machines will be withdrawn step by step. If you need a quick cup of coffee, you should find something else.

Selecta machines left

The reason for the downsizing decision is increased competition. The assortment of cappuccino, lattes and the like at train stations has increased significantly. In addition, the price of automatic coffee was increased from 2.50 to 3 francs, which did not help the demand much. The machines are operated by Selecta. For example, there are another 250 Lavazza machines at the tram stops. What happened to them is unknown.

SBB is becoming more and more reluctant to reserve space on platforms. Well known Selecta machines remained.

Lavazza was already expelled from Swiss trains in 2018. At that time, SBB decided to trust a Swiss coffee brand. (lui)
