Although passenger numbers have increased again after the corona crisis, ZVV will likely not be able to reduce its deficit. The reasons for this are inflation, higher interest rates and higher energy costs, according to ZVV on Thursday.
ZVV thinks the deficit will likely increase over the next few years. In 2026, the annual lump sum of CHF 45 million paid by the federal government will no longer be valid. This payment came from the first new S-Bahn line and will be discontinued after 30 years as planned.
In addition to cost-cutting measures of transport companies, passengers also need to close the gap. In early April, ZVV announced that it would increase ticket prices by an average of 3.4 percent through December 2023. (smt/SDA)
