Swiss Re announced on Wednesday that De Vaucleroy has been on the reinsurer’s board of directors since the end of April and is now definitely taking over that position. Prior to that, the Belgian was vice-president of the group’s highest body.

According to the information given, de Vaucleroy was born in 1961 and has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. In 2017, he was elected as a member of the Swiss Re Board of Directors. He also currently chairs the Remuneration Committee and the Governance and Nomination Committee. He also chairs the boards of directors of Swiss Re Europe SA and Swiss Re International SE.

His election as the Chairman of the Board of Directors was “unconditionally” approved by the Members of the Board of Directors. He is now stepping down as Chief Independent Director and Chairman and member of the Remuneration Committee to pursue the best governance. Jörg Reinhardt will take over as Chief Independent Director and Jay Ralph will chair the Compensation Committee – both with immediate effect.
