“Hard conditions”: Low-cost airline Easyjet cancels 1,700 flights in summer

Budget airline Easyjet had to cancel multiple flights this summer, particularly from London’s Gatwick Airport. He said most of the affected passengers were rebooked on other flights.

The official said 95 percent of affected passengers were rebooked on alternative flights. Around 90,000 flights will be operated between July and September, with cancellations roughly equivalent to the number of connections per day.

Easyjet stressed that the entire industry is facing “challenging conditions” this summer, as the air over Europe has narrowed more and more due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace as a result of Russia’s war of aggression. Planned strikes at the air traffic control organization Eurocontrol may also have consequences.

The company said it has “made some preventative adjustments to our schedule” affecting “the small number of flights at Gatwick”. Experts expect July to have the highest number of exits in a month from the UK since October 2019. Industry analysts from Cirium expect the number to be 11 percent higher than the same month last year. (SDA)
