Twitter Alternative Threads have been around for five days. Since then, 100 million users have signed up to the new meta platform! This makes Threads the fastest growing app ever. And they don’t even exist in Europe.
As of last Wednesday, Topics is available for download in 100 countries. Launch in Europe delayed due to lack of approval from Brussels. Threads is officially considered a subsidiary of Meta subsidiary Instagram. If you already have an Instagram login, you can use it to login directly.
ChatGPT is dethroned
So far, Chat GTP has been the fastest growing app. However, it took two months for the app to reach 100 million users. Now the practice was already pushed back from the throne after a short time. However, such applications are often growing faster and faster. By comparison, it took Instagram two and a half years for the app to reach 100 million users. It was nine months on Tiktok.
Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg (39) wants to offer an alternative to Twitter with Threads. Because things have been messy there since Elon Musk (52) took over last year. Musk’s latest campaign: Twitter users who don’t currently have a subscription can only read 600 posts per day. This should encourage users to post on topics instead of tweeting in the future.
Musk sues Zuckerberg
Text posts in headlines can be up to 500 characters long and contain links, photos and videos up to 5 minutes long. This allows longer texts and videos to be posted in threads than on Twitter.
Musk is already threatening Meta with filing a lawsuit against Threads. Musk accuses Zuckerberg of using “trade secrets and other highly confidential information from Twitter” and wants to stop it. The Meta family finds the accusations from Twitter unfounded. (AFP/kae)
