It will solve many problems: OpenAI wants to work on controlling digital “superintelligence”.

“Humans will not be able to reliably audit AI systems that are much smarter than us,” the San Francisco-based company said in a blog post Wednesday. Therefore, an automated procedure should be developed for this.

OpenAI wants to use one-fifth of the available computing capacity for this. The development team should be led by chief scientist Ilya Sutskever.

Even if “superintelligence” still seems a long way off from computing, OpenAI believes it will still be possible this decade. It will help solve many problems and will be the most important invention of mankind.

The move comes after a warning from industry experts who believe artificial intelligence is associated with an existential risk of danger. One of the signatories is OpenAI boss Sam Altman.

The alleged threat was not detailed, and critics accused experts of diverting attention from artificial intelligence problems that already exist today, such as discrimination in algorithms.

Among other things, OpenAI developed the ChatGPT chatbot, which triggered a new hype about artificial intelligence. The program can create sentences that are almost indistinguishable from a human’s.

For this purpose, it is trained with an enormous amount of data, and on this basis it predicts, word for word, how a sentence should continue. However, this policy also allows ChatGPT to sometimes provide completely false information.
