Tomorrow, Friday, nothing will happen at Geneva Airport. Various worker groups at Geneva Airport declared a strike between 6 and 10 am on Friday, June 30. This also applies to apron control personnel, who are air traffic controllers who monitor and control ground taxiing aircraft.

This has consequences: If these air traffic controllers stop working at Geneva Airport, after landing, no aircraft will be allowed to taxi to the runway or gate anymore. This means that there will be no take-off or landing during the declared strike period. Geneva Airport is closed during this period. This also applies to flights to Switzerland, as the airline reports.

Arrival and departure to Geneva delayed

Swiss say it has set up a task force that is doing everything it can to keep the impact of the strike on passengers as small as possible. “Despite these efforts, Switzerland has to cancel flights or delay flights to and from Geneva,” the airline writes.

All morning flights from Geneva are affected on Friday. Flights scheduled to land during this time will need to be delayed and rescheduled. “The task force is currently working to analyze the exact impacts. We assume that 13 flights will be canceled, 11 more flights will be delayed, and a total of 2,000 passengers will be affected,” he said.
