The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday published a comprehensive report on how drugs are keeping Silicon Valley afloat. It shows that drug use is no longer an after-work activity for stressed-out employees, but presented as “a mind-blowing activity” by company bosses.

Unnamed sources report consumption that goes beyond intake for medical reasons. Billionaire and Twitter boss Elon Musk (52) is a regular ketamine consumer, while Google co-founder and billionaire Sergey Brin (49) is said to have “magic mushrooms” (mushrooms containing psilocybin). Former Apple Bosses Steve Jobs (1955–2011) with LSD.

Ketamine is said to help with depression

In the past, company bosses either ignored or blacked out such reports. Not so Elon Musk: It doubles, so to speak.

According to him, the “occasional” ketamine is a better choice than conventional medications for depression. He claims to have “observed it with his friends”.

The drug’s defense may be reasonable. In the broader context it’s just difficult. Musk has a past.

Elon Musk smoked marijuana in public

He is well known for his appearance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” show, where he consumes live marijuana. Which was legal in this case. Or his tweet in which he joked about buying Coca-Cola “to use cocaine again as content”. He also said that people should be “open to psychedelic drugs.” Longtime friend David Marglin, a lawyer in San Francisco, told the New York Times in 2022 that he had “easy drug research” with Musk. But these are always “micro dosages”. Additionally, Musk has been frequently spotted at Burning Man, the notorious desert festival where drugs are a part.

Addiction prevention agencies around the world are not happy that the world’s richest person has such a haphazard relationship with drugs.
