Explosion in the health insurance industry! The two Bern health insurance companies Visana and Atupri will merge to form the “Atusana” health insurance group on January 1, 2024. “Atusana” will have over 1 million customers, making it a key player. For comparison: CSS, the largest fund, has 1,502,400 insured people. Helsana, which is 1.420.000 million.

As equal partners, Visana and Atupri combine their performance and innovative strengths under the umbrella of the “Atusana” foundation, but remain operationally and entrepreneurially independent and continue to act as independent brands, according to a press release. “Handelzeitung” writes that the merger will not result in any layoffs and will not affect existing locations of operations.
