Migros specialist retail chain SportXX is changing its name. It’s in the current issue of “Handelzeitung”. “Customer surveys have shown us that double X has very negative connotations and does not fit the quality aspect we offer. The new X also represents the connection between Body & Mind. That’s why we’re renaming it SportX now,” confirms Ophélie Döbler, president of the two chains SportXX and Bikeworld.
Market watchers speculate that the name change was due to the multiple occurrences of the letter “X” in the name being so closely linked to the erotic sphere in certain segments of the population, “Handelzeitung” continues.
New with tea and vitamins
Döbler, who has been president of SportXX since summer 2021, now focuses on physical and mental health aspects for the sports retail chain. According to the “Handelszeitung”, additional products such as sleeping pillows, massagers, vitamins and tea will initially be introduced in two branches. (pbe)
