The Lucerne Canton Council lays down basic hospital facilities by law

The Cantonal Hospital Lucerne (Luks) should offer a legally established basic service at its locations. On Tuesday, the canton council voted 87 to 14 in favor of a corresponding passage in the hospital law.

Parliament followed its Committee on Health, Labor and Social Security (GASK), which drafted the bill. The GLP had requested an exemption from determining what the hospital had to offer. Their argument was that if the hospital were forced to submit a detailed bid, its further development would be prevented.

This is determined in the Hospital Act by the decision of the canton council three Luks locations in Lucerne, Sursee and Wolhusen provide adequate outpatient and inpatient basic and emergency care that is accessible to everyone must be offered.

The new regulation also states this what is meant by basic and emergency care. This includes in particular internal medicine, general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, anesthesia, intensive care monitoring and an interdisciplinary emergency department with 24-hour availability.

The reason for the new article of law was that basic services are not sufficiently defined today. That’s what it’s about To restore the people’s confidence in the Luks and politics, which was disrupted during the discussions about the new construction in Wolhusen. (sda) (sda)
