Despite the premium increase, only one in three people changes health insurer

Despite continuously rising premiums, only about a third of Swiss people change their health insurance. This is evident from a study by the comparison platform Hellosafe.

Changing health insurers could lead to significant savings, the platform wrote on its website on Tuesday. It can be assumed that health insurance premiums for basic insurance will rise sharply in the coming year. According to Hellosafe, 62.6 percent of respondents are still unwilling to change health insurer.

According to Hellosafe, the average premium for basic insurance in 2023 was 377 francs per month. In addition, the Swiss will pay an average deductible of 1,304 francs in 2023.

Hellosafe’s research was conducted on its website between July 31 and September 11, 2023. A total of 729 people participated.
