It is not easy for a woman who is ashamed of her figure because of a clearly protruding tummy, to find comfortable and well-fitting pants. Wearing a tucked-in top in them can seem like a girl’s worst nightmare. But there is a way to do it without anyone paying attention to the stomach.
What pants will make the belly more prominent
UK-based Claire Hall is a style expert who has been running her blog Club Forty for eight years, helping women 40+ create their own style. Claire believes that 40 is a difficult age, and honing your taste, developing your personality and creatively rethinking fashion trends helps you survive the crisis.
Claire recently shared a tip on her TikTok page that will come in handy for any woman who wants to take the spotlight off her belly. The stylist showed how to do it with the example of pants with wide legs and a tight top.
According to Claire, the lack of figure shows up when a woman is dressed in tight clothing such as capri pants or skinny jeans. “They create an inverted triangle, the widest and most noticeable side of which is the stomach,” explained the stylist. The opposite effect is given by loose pants – for example palazzo or hakama.

In the video, Claire demonstrated what happens when wide trousers are rolled up: the silhouette of a woman changes immediately.

More ways to hide a bulging tummy
- Distract attention: focus on the part of the body that looks great – expose your wrists or ankles if they are slim and graceful, wear a blouse with a wide neckline if you have beautiful breasts.
- Create vertical lines with the second layer of clothing. Unbutton a trench coat, a long cardigan, a jacket or a shirt jacket – this will optically stretch your silhouette and disguise a bulging tummy.
- Wear a dress: an A-line model will hide the tummy and emphasize femininity, a high-waisted dress will draw attention to the bust, a shirt dress will add an additional vertical seam with buttons in the middle.
