Personal stylist Samantha Brown believes that people need style to feel confident. Ultimately, it is this factor that every choice of clothing relies on – to make you feel comfortable, calm, relaxed. Therefore, according to the expert, some trends and styles will have to be abandoned after 40 years: they are a priori uncomfortable for girls with mature forms and can also cause psychological discomfort.
“Trends are not tied to specific age groups, but to what clothes and for what occasion you choose yourself. I think 40 is a young age. I also don’t think people should avoid trends because of their age, says Samantha. “However, there are trends that most likely just won’t suit you and won’t make you happy – so why waste your time on them?”.
So, the stylist believes that potentially dangerous trends for 40 years old are …
- crop tops. Samantha says the main pitfall is that cropped shirts and T-shirts can make you look like a teenager. But if you combine such styles, for example, with high-waisted pants, the image can take shape. It is important that the cropped items have the right companion;
- kidcore, a style inspired by childhood. It’s prints in the form of emoticons and teddy bears, chokers, plastic jewelry in all colors of the rainbow – of course, kidcore is popular now, but until a certain age it looks funny, and then it loses its taste;
- return trends. You shouldn’t change into the clothes you wore in your 20s, even if it suddenly became a super hit again. Yes, the 2000s aesthetic is very popular again, but that’s no reason to apply pearlescent shadows, highlights and wear ultra-low-rise jeans. You are already living a new era of life, so let it open in a new wardrobe!
