The biggest problem catching up with fashion after forty years is dressing “too much”. Too young or they’ll think you’re running from your age. Or too classic, otherwise everyone will assume that you have hidden yourself in the “shell” of traditions and deny trends. Too sincere, too closed, too infantile… Too many of these “toos”!
Second, personal stylist Leslie Hsu knows where your wardrobe problem areas are. Based on the experience of his regular customers who once came with the same complaints, the expert says what needs to be done to look fresh and stylish after 40 and not think about age at all. At least as far as the frame is concerned. And here’s Leslie’s advice to all ladies over forty:
- heels aren’t the only way to look smart. On a daily basis, it is better to replace studs with a wedge or platform. You will feel comfortable, your legs will not get tired at all and the silhouette will be taut;
- high-waisted jeans and dresses with a cinched waist are must-haves in your forties. You will see how these two things save any outfit! Again, they are comfortable and these styles shape the figure themselves;
- Get used to hanging clothes on hangers. And even better – on the rail. This way, you can imagine a capsule for the season and not get confused in the endless clubs of clothes on the shelves, and you can also quickly determine what you don’t wear at all;
- use the “one in, one out” method. When you buy something new, choose one old thing that doesn’t fit you, has gone out of fashion, or hasn’t come out of your closet in years. And bid her farewell;
- observe body proportions. After forty years, we lose weight and gain kilograms just like in our 30s, so it is necessary to have a “reinforced concrete capsule” in reserve. Choose 5-6 things that you feel comfortable in at any weight. It can be a comfortable maxi dress, an oversized jacket, pants with arrows…
And if you suddenly need to change into a larger or smaller size, be sure to do it: your comfort should be higher than just beautiful clothes, for which it is a shame to look for a replacement!
