If you wear this outfit, you’ve lost control of life: Lagerfeld’s biting quote reveals the whole truth

Lagerfeld wasn’t just called “Kaiser Karl” or “Fashion Kaiser” – the name didn’t even fully capture the extent of his influence on the fashion industry. The legendary designer was never satisfied with himself (like all perfectionists), he was strict with himself and his style. And to other people who often received “a few hugs” from Lagerfeld.

The designer came out strongly in defense of the models on the catwalk and called on all those who criticize their parameters to “look at themselves”. He also spoke harshly about his reluctance to work on his appearance, even offering to buy clothes a size smaller – on purpose! We will not argue, Karl’s statements were mostly mega provocative, but not without meaning. Like, for example, his argument about … sweatpants.

If you wear this outfit, you’ve lost control of life: Lagerfeld’s biting quote reveals the whole truth

“Sweatpants are a symbol of defeat,” Carl believed. “You lost control of your life, that’s why you bought sweatpants.

What can I say – hard! Considering that these sports pants are in every first girl’s wardrobe and we wear them (honestly) not only for training. For a morning “run” to the store or a “sprint” to work when there is absolutely no mood to get dressed. In addition, sports elements have long been firmly rooted in mass fashion, so it simply does not make sense to ignore them in the everyday look.

Bella Hadid wears high socks and miniskirts, Hailey Bieber mixes sweats with ultra-short tops and looks great — and not like she’s lost control of her life. Of course, Karl was not talking about cases when trendsetters put together interesting combos and shine in street styles – but about moments when sweatpants come out of the closet because there is no motivation to choose an interesting outfit.

But the designer condemned this carelessness in his own image. It’s one thing to change into a comfortable suit to get through a tough few days at work, for example. Another is to pull the same “exercise pants” off the shelf again and again, day after day, week after week, completely unwilling to emphasize the appearance, see the taste in it and just indulge in attention.

And it’s not just sports pants – in any other “relaxing” clothing that discourages the desire to experiment. If you’re wearing the same jeans and shirt for the fourth time in a week, that’s all the more reason to think about Lagerfeld’s “workouts”: maybe it’s time for a change?
