The topic of a capsule wardrobe can be discussed for a long time: in order for it to start working and create its famous charm, it is necessary to take into account many details and approach the matter with common sense. First, you will study all the subtleties, spend a dozen fittings, mercilessly say goodbye to familiar but useless things, and as a result, you will get an almost miraculous wardrobe that will close the question “I spent so much on clothes for the whole season, do I really have nothing to wear?”
So how many pairs of shoes do you need? Fashion experts believe that 10 models is the maximum you can work with, and if your collection is larger, then not all shoes and boots will be part of the capsule. Only basic and classic pairs are “accepted” there! But even 5-6 new dresses can cost a lot of money if you start collecting a seasonal wardrobe from scratch – so what to build on?
Anglo-American fashion designer and fashion guru Tan France advises to first get one model from only three categories: semi-sporty, heel and flat sole. For spring, the expert suggests the following “minimum set”:
- white sneakers or sneakers without other accessories – in order for the shoes to enter the capsule, they must be highly compatible. And for this it is important that it be as universal, neutral as possible;
- boats – beige, black or white. You can look at other noble shades, for example, dark brown, blue, graphite: we focus on the palette of your capsule wardrobe;
- ballet shoes or ballet flats. Depending on the climate in which you live, you should choose either flat shoes or classic oxfords or moccasins. Although, taking into account the variety of weather conditions, Tan France recommends preparing all three models – in this way, you will conclude the need for shoes for the demi-season. And now count on your capsule collection to expand to 5 pairs for spring – and that’s more than enough to look stylish and mix and match looks that are rarely repetitive.
