Summer Capsule: A stylist lists 7 must-haves in your summer wardrobe

Who talks about what, as they say, “lousy about the bath”, and the stylist about the wardrobe. Either another six-hour analysis has completely exhausted me, or I really feel this problem of modernity, but again and again I come across bulging closets in which 70% of things are not worn by housewives. As? And like this. I heard a broad expression from one lady that turned out to be very telling: we all, my dears, are concerned with the uniform “need ***” and nothing else.

Ladies on Instagram flaunting one-of-a-kind outfits, monthly trend summaries dictating the rules of an unwinnable game, the hunt for chic runway looks, have us running to the store again and again to grab a ton of stuff. The gang is growing, but we are none the wiser.

Then the specialist comes and mercilessly removes everything that does not fit, is not relevant, does not fit, looks “weird”, killed by bobbins and numerous washings. But there’s another moment I love most about the wardrobe breakdown. That’s when we assemble the kits and the real magic begins. What do I mean? At such moments, it suddenly turns out that dresses and shirts can function as an extended jacket, ordinary blazers with the help of a belt, accessories and “such and such a mother” (sorry) turn into those that impressed us in the last issue of a glossy magazine and replace the accent of the usual shoes turns the most ordinary outfit into an outfit that decorates and does not hang limply on a hanger. ⠀

Today I’m writing about what you need to have in your wardrobe to build kits from. Regardless of your lifestyle and the presence of a dress code (this is an individual story), I will tell you what the working minimum is for me for the summer (no, no, this is not about asceticism, do not worry in advance) . I will make a reservation right away, my age is not for crop tops and mini shorts, the size is not xs, I don’t have much money for designer clothes (that’s why I often have bags and shoes from expensive ones), I walk the earth when in a cube.

Item #1. Simple and high quality t-shirts and tops

Buy tops in basic colors for versatility. White, gray, beige, blue. Black? You can too if you really want to. I literally have a few prints, I love them for the ability to pull the color out of the print into pants or skirts.

Item number 2. Shirt

You can’t do without white. Other neutral tones are also possible, focus here on the items in your wardrobe.

Item number 3. Dress

I literally have a few for the summer and wear them mostly when I fly on vacation. In everyday life, I prefer skirts for their much greater variability. I recommend that you look at the ones that fit well – smooth, without active decor. Then by adding accessories (jewelry, belt), changing shoes and using a blazer, it is very easy to get something refreshing from work at the nearest coffee shop.

Item number 4. Classic jeans and trousers

Blue, straight, perfectly fitting, with a standard or slightly high cut. Light (beige is an ideal choice) comfortable pants are also indispensable (cotton with some admixture or canvas look best when the pants are wide). You can find cropped pants and open the ankle – it’s on fire! No? Oh well, you can tuck in any, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to “build” culottes.

Item #5 Blazer

How could it be without him, especially when we often have cold days, it is easy for them to hide the “hands of the valley” at once and even draw a silhouette – there is nothing to do. See that this piece of clothing does not work “horizontally” and pay attention to the length and where it ends (the main thing is not what you wanted to hide). A leather jacket-a leather jacket and a light trench coat are also suitable in cold weather.

Item number 6. Skirt

When, if not now? No frills, frills, “I’m Esmeralda, where are my castanets?” style. and lengths down to the floor (to prevent envious people from riding the subway! Just kidding). Universal color, midi length – can be combined into sets at once – with a T-shirt and sneakers, with a shirt and “pumps”.

The shorts, which I now also wear in midi length, and Julia Roberts’ Pretty Woman look with long shorts and a jacket is a favorite. Do you have any help?

Item number 7. Accessories

Try to choose as neutral and universal as possible. A pair of classic pumps and sandals will allow you to style your outfit in different ways. When it comes to bags, an expensive bag with a classic design can last you many years. On the other hand, cheap (but always leather and real shapes and colors) can significantly decorate the calmest look. Focus on your fashion strategy and wallet size here.

On vacation, I generally dream of flying off with a t-shirt, shorts, swimsuit and flip-flops in a small backpack, but that has never happened (I have a feeling it won’t).

Thanks Stasia! I agree with everything! I also want to go on vacation in one white dress, a long shirt, two shorts and a bunch of swimsuits 🙂 Of course that’s not going to happen either 🙂
