There is some confusion about the length of the Manifest series. Six seasons were planned, the series ended prematurely after three seasons – and in the end there are now four! as the? We bring light to the darkness, but we have to tell you the bad news for many fans: Season 4.2 episodes just got refreshed on June 2 Netflix were released are the last of “Manifest”. After that it should be over, so you shouldn’t hope for a fifth season.
But first of all, why is the number of seasons on Manifest almost as mysterious as the show itself, in which a plane disappears for five and a half years while the passengers only have a few hours?
Netflix saved Manifesto from cancellation
“Manifest” started in 2018 on the American broadcaster NBC. However, one moved there pulled the plug after three seasons – the series would have ended completely in the middle, without any resolution. Subsequently, the #SaveManifest campaign was launched on the internet, which also included horror author Stephen King. Netflix heard the call and bought the series.
Series creator Jeff Rake, the originally planned six seasons for “Manifest”. and designed the complete storylines for them, sat down with Netflix and presented them with three options for completing the series: with a two-hour movie, with a six-part miniseries or with a full season.
Away from the 6-season plan
Either way, it was clear: Jeff Rake had to cut back on his original plans for six seasons — but still set his goal to tell the same ending he’d planned from the beginning. A sporty undertaking, but one that was at least made easier by Netflix opting for variant 3: “Manifest” got a fourth and final season, and this one even in XXL format.
While seasons with eight to ten episodes are more the norm on Netflix, Season 4 of “Manifest” consists of a whopping 20 episodes released in two blocks. The first ten episodes came to Netflix as Season 4.1 in November 2022, and the last ten episodes were available on June 2, 2023. And because Season 4 started almost last year, many people think the new episodes are Season 5 — but that’s not it. case, although this is actually a rather strange nag, as Netflix would have loved to see the two parts for their length and would like to name them season 4 and season 5.
Josh Dallas wants spinoffs
But what about a “real” fifth season of “Manifest”? As per its current status, it shouldn’t exist, after all, season 4 has ended the main story. But you should never say never — and lead actor Josh Dallas, who plays Ben Stone, has said out loud ideas on how to proceed.
Dallas sees potential in sequels, prequels and spin-offs – which, to be fair, you could do with any series, of course. More specifically, Dallas suggests that a series could be made about Ben Stone’s daughter, Eden, as a 21-year-old struggling to come to terms with her life and her family’s legacy (and perhaps re-appeal? And watch out, spoiler: If Eden will exist at all after the series finale… At least Ben plans to have a third child) or you could go back to before 2013 and tell the backstory of NSA Director Vance (Daryl Edwards). Officially there are (yet?) no such plans.
