After “Dune”, “Dungeons & Dragons” and Co.: “Deadpool”, the director is working on a new fantasy epic

Fantasy film adaptations are a dime a dozen. Of course, when we talk about this topic, we first think of big blockbusters like “The Lord of the Rings” or the numerous adaptations of the Arthurian saga. And the genre didn’t really arrive until television or the streaming platforms at the latest with “Game of Thrones”. Nevertheless, of course, there are still plenty of fantasy epics that have not yet been released to the screens and big screens. This also includes author Joe Abercrombie’s “The First Law” series – which we should definitely count on right now!

How reported is an adaptation of the novel”Best served cold‘ (in German: “Blades of Vengeance”) in the works – and this could be the start of a whole new series of fantasy films. Author Joe Abercrombie has already written ten books for the series “The First Law”, which is known in Germany as “Klingenwelt” and has a large fan base.

However, “Racheklinge” is not the first novel, but number four. While the first three books read as a trilogy, the other novels are independent stories but set in the same universe. So it shouldn’t be difficult to bring more novels to the screen after the first film adaptation.

Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series begins with three novels, The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged, and Last Argument of Kings. This is followed by Best Served Cold and another six novels. All in the same universe, but with different stories. The special thing: in the blade universe there is no clear division between good and evil. This creates an extraordinary world full of magic.

In “Best Served Cold”, the mercenary Monzcarro Murcatto is central to the story. Murcatto is loved by the Styrians, has a man by her side and enough money – everything seems to be going well with her. But the grand duke of the country is not enthusiastic about it and wants to get rid of the woman. He gives the order to kill her. But Murcatto survives and only wants one thing: revenge…

It is not yet known when ‘Best Served Cold’ will be shown in cinemas or on a streaming service.
