The first trailer for “Tyler Rake: Extraction 2” promises that action will raise the bar, surpassing the equally impressively staged debut. Once again, Marvel star Chris Hemsworth (“Thor: Day of Decision,” “Avengers: Endgame”) stars, having a blast starring as extraction expert Tyler Rake.
The opposite of Accordingly, Chris Hemsworth explained, “I love it. I like playing this character. I love this world I love having something else outside of Marvel that also has some fans and is a little bit more real world based. I really feel like we made a better movie than the first one. That is rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss if we didn’t try another part.
So what’s next for Tyler Rake?
Well, before we can talk seriously about the future of the “Extraction” series, we can look forward to “Tyler Rake: Extraction 2” on June 16, in which Chris Hemsworth gets to stack the corpses neatly again when he – like John Wick – lets his passion for headshots run wild. Still, director Sam Hargrave isn’t shy about dropping hints about his plans for the franchise. Because after part 2, the director should certainly not be over, like this one interview has confirmed:
“There’s so much room for this series to expand and places it could go. I’m excited to see what Tyler Rake’s next adventure could be. We’ll see how part 2 goes. We’ll see how people feel. And if the world really craves another Tyler Rake adventure, I think I’d love to see that on screen. I have an idea, but I’m not going to share it here.”
That means: wait. While Extraction 2 is almost certain to be a hit for Netflix, it remains to be seen what the future holds and whether Netflix actually decides to bring the movie to theaters. In the past, the streaming service did that with “The Irishman”, “Roma” or “The Trial Of The Chicago 7”. Especially since these were movies that were meant for the Oscars. But the action comedy “Red Notice” with Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot also hit the cinemas in Germany. So it would be possible.
