When it comes to cameos in the MCU (and they always do, after all), they’re usually guest appearances from the late comic book legend Stan Lee (whose last cameo was in Avengers: Endgame) or characters from other Marvel genre projects. But of course, sometimes there are actors and actresses outside the MCU who drop in on one comedy show or the other.
A good example of this is the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies James Gunnwho benefits from making many of his friends and companions appear in one way or another during his space adventures. And in “Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3” Gunn has outdone himself in that respect…
More than cameos: Nathan Fillion & Sylvester Stallone
Even if it’s not strictly cameos anymore (especially not hidden), but small supporting roles as well, we want to star the performances of “The Rookie”, “Castle” and “Firefly” Nathan Fillion as well as action icons Sylvester Stallone should not go unmentioned on this point. Fillion, who, by the way, starred in James Gunn’s feature debut “Slither” years ago, is getting some more screen time this time around as Orgocorp security guard Master Karja, after having a voice cameo as the inmate “Guardians Of The Galaxy” in the first episode. And following his MCU debut in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2, Sylvester Stallone returns as Ravager Stakar Ogord in several scenes.

Also completed many more than one cameo Linda Cardellini, who lends her voice to Rocket’s otter friend Lylla in the original version. At this point we want to emphasize Cardellini again because it is already the second major MCU supporting role for her, as she was already Hawkeye’s wife Laura Barton in “Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron” and the series “Hawkeye” to watch.
The Real Cameos: From The Suicide Squad Stars to James Gunn
But now we come to the actual cameos in “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3”, some of which are not so easy to discover. While someone like “Yondu” Michael Rooker can be admired in all his blue splendor despite the brevity of his appearance, many others can only be heard (in the original) or hidden (almost) beyond recognition behind a CGI coating or a mask. And again with others, you might wonder who that actually was. Below we list all the notable cameos in “Volume 3”:
- Michael Rooker as Yondu: Not hidden, but surprising, Peter Quill’s Ravager foster father briefly resurfaces as a hallucination in the sequel following his death in “Volume 2”.
- Greg Henry as Jason Quill: “Gilmore Girls” fans know him best as the sleazy Mitchum Huntzberger, but Gregg Henry is also a regular part of James Gunn projects, including now in “Guardians Of The Galaxy 3”, where he once again has a cameo as the grandfather from Peter Quill.
- Daniela Melchior as Urah: Hard to see under the pink make-up, but the Orgocorp receptionist enchanted by Peter is played by Daniela Melchior, who previously cast James Gunn as Ratcatcher 2 in The Suicide Squad (and currently also in cinemas in Fast & Furious 10′ ).

- Jennifer Holland as jellyfish: Another familiar face from “The Suicide Squad” (and the “Peacemaker” series): James Gunn’s wife, Jennifer Holland, embodies the Orgocorp administrator Kwol in “Guardians 3”.
- Dee Bradley Baker as blur: The vocal prodigy has many fans, especially as the original speaker of all the clones in the “Star Wars” animated series, but is also best known for bringing non-speaking characters to life with a wide variety of sounds, including Adam Warlock’s fuzzy new pet Blurp in Guardians Of The Galaxy 3.
- Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex: As in part 2, the “Smallville” villain is back in part 3 (barely recognizable under his CGI crystal face) as Ravager.
- Tara strong as main frame: In “Volume 2” superstar Miley Cyrus could be heard briefly as the Ravager AI, in the sequel Tara Strong, who previously voiced the TVA mascot Miss Minutes in the Marvel series “Loki”, takes on the slightly larger role this time .

- Judy Greer as war pig: And another MCU double role: After appearing as Scott Lang’s ex-wife Maggie in the first two “Ant-Man” films, Judy Greer now voices the experimentally bred high evolutionary henchman War Pig in “Guardians 3”.
- Seth Green as Howard the Duck: As in the first two Guardians Of The Galaxy movies and the MCU animated series What If…?, the Austin Powers star once again voices the beloved Marvel duck, this time in a card game on Knowhere.
- Christopher Fairbank as a broker: And speaking of card games: the well-known broker from part 1 (who at the time wanted to buy Peter’s sphere with the power stone) also celebrates a comeback here at the gaming table, again embodied by “The Fifth Element” doctor Christopher Fairbank.
- Rhett Miller as Bzermikitokolok: The round of cards is completed by the singer of the country band Old 97, who already had a prominent role in the “Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special”.
- Peter Davidson as phlectica: The comedian actor also starred (as Blackguard) in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, but is now fully disguised behind the mask of an alien guard from the High Evolutionary in Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 (although he was actually seen on May 1, 2009) Suppose, as confirmed by James Gunn via Twitter):
I voiced the beautiful Lambshank. I don’t want to show her here because she’s too beautiful and I don’t want people to feel bad about themselves in comparison. And my friend Pete not only voted, but even came to visit us in Atlanta for a day and played Phlektik on set. https://t.co/tyVPU7GsZg pic.twitter.com/2cKamjHqxS

- Lloyd Kaufman as baking tray: In “Guardians Of The Galaxy” he was briefly seen alive in Kyln Prison, this time James Gunn has the founder of the cult trash company Troma, where Gunn once started his career, the voice of a high-evolutionary experiment accommodated.
- James Gunn as lamb shank: And Gunn himself does the honors as spokesman for a failed attempt by the “Guardians 3” villain. His rather deformed, but somehow cuddly Lambshank is freed by Mantis in the confrontation.
- Eagly as herself: Last but not least, if you look closely at the end of the movie, you can also see an eagle in the animal cages of the High Evolutionary, which James Gunn tweeted is actually Eagly, the trusty DC series “Peacemaker” of the main character.
