Known from “You” & “Uncharted”: Netflix star lets his fists fly in “Mortal Kombat 2” – is Kitana coming too?

The “Mortal Kombat 2” video game adaptation continues to gain momentum: After it was announced in early May 2023 that “The Boys” star Karl Urban will take on the role of Hollywood action star Johnny Cage in the sequel, has a second new entry become known: as the US industry magazine reported, is becoming Tatja Gabrielle put on Jade’s green ninja outfit.

The actress known for Netflix hit series such as “You – You will love me”, “Kaleidoscope” and “Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina”, as well as the video game adaptation “Uncharted”, is currently in final negotiations which in most cases means that she will then take on the role.

Jade made his video game debut in 1993’s Mortal Kombat II, where she is not a playable character, but a hidden, unlockable opponent. She was a playable character in 1995’s Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. She is a close friend and confidante of Princess Kitana and in this game is sent to find her after Kitana kills her evil twin sister Mileena.

Considering that Mileena (played by Sisi Stringer) previously appeared in the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie and was killed off by Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) in it, things will definitely look and play out a bit differently in the Mortal Kombat 2- movie. However, we’re pretty sure that since Jade is in the sequel, Kitana will definitely make an appearance as well.

Similar rumors were already circulating. thereafter Kitana’s mother Sindel, Outworld ruler Shao Kahn, sorcerer Quan Chi and Baraka, who is equipped with long teeth and forearm blades, will also appear in “Mortal Kombat 2”..

While these are just rumors so far, it’s pretty certain that many Mortal Kombat characters will return in Part 2, including main character Cole Young (Lewis Tan), Jax (Mehcad Brooks), and fan-favorite Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Sub – Zero (Joe Taslim).

As with Part 1, Simon McQuoid will direct and the screenplay will be written by Moon Knight author Jeremy Slater. Mortal Kombat 2 is slated to begin shooting in Summer 2023, putting the film on track for a mid-2024 release. Mortal Kombat 2 currently has no official launch date.
