Of course, the series “Fast & Furious” has long left the tuning and illegal car racing scene, but the characters still have gasoline in their veins. Whether it’s raids, thefts or world-saving missions – the action always involves fast, stylish sledging. And occasionally the series reminisces about its roots – like in “Fast & Furious 10” when Dom (Vin Diesel) shows up at an illegal street fight in Rio de Janeiro and meets his opponent Dante (Jason Momoa). But the supposed race to end the conflict forever is really just the next stop in Dante’s perfidious scheme. He makes it clear to Dom once again that he cannot save everyone.
So then there is no real race – a fact that Jason Momoa also misses in “Fast & Furious 10”. In an interview with he explains that this is the only thing that bothers him about the film. He does have some scenes on the bike, but he wasn’t really allowed to race down the street in fast cars. But this will change in the next movie, namely in “Fast and Furious 11“, change. His wish to those responsible is that he will receive training again so that he can do as many car stunts as possible himself. He has already filmed about 80 percent of the motorcycle action himself and is very happy to have become so trusted.
Jason Momoa as Dante – it gets even wilder!
Even if Dante isn’t actually competing with Dom on the track or getting into an actual physical fight, he’s probably the most dangerous opponent for the extended Toretto family yet. Because Dante not only plans way ahead, but is completely unpredictable. The wild side of the character, who also spends her free time painting the toenails of dead ex-accomplices, could have been more prominent.
Momoa revealed also that he doesn’t believe the wildest takes of his performance ended up in the movie. He delivered different, wacky performances of the character for each scene – ultimately advising those in charge to take the bravest one. If you rank his performance on a scale of 1 to 10 for brutality, he’ll assume that the performance made it into the movie with a 4. But Momoa also stated that he had not seen the film at the time, so he did not know to what extent those responsible followed him. But he couldn’t imagine the really wildest performances made it – so there’s still room for improvement.
You can hear why Momoa is still the highlight in our podcast linked above. If you have any questions about the ending of the movie, here are the detailed answers:
