The video was removed minutes after it was posted, fueling users’ suspicion. Since then, the videos on TikTok have been piling up from people who want to prove on social media that Britney Spears is not the real one. At the very top you will find the Tiktokerin Catspills. Her “reveal video” has been viewed more than five million times. She is convinced that Fake Britney is a blue-eyed woman posing as the star.
Catpill’s video has led to scrutiny of other videos and photos of Britney as well. Many are also convinced that the wedding photos with Sam Asghari show that the singer’s hand is not human.
Even if the reveal videos seem a bit obsessive at first, many users seem to believe them. The comments under Catpills Clips say something like, “How much more evidence does the public need before they finally investigate and you realize something is wrong?” Or, “I know that’s not Britney. She’s either dead or being held against her will.”
While many seem convinced of the deep fake, there are also dissenting voices. Some users say, “You just can’t accept that she won’t have all the cups in the cupboard anymore and start telling fairytales” or, “It’s just a beauty filter!”
Britney Spears herself – and her alleged impersonator – has not yet commented on the video.
