In “Lord Of War – Dealer of Death”, Nicolas Cage has slipped into the role of arms dealer Yuri Orlov, who quickly rises up the ranks of the very large arms dealers. But the deal with death not only keeps him a lot of money, but also causes his private problems to continue to grow. You can see how well Andrew Niccol’s (“Gattaca”) satire, celebrated by critics and audiences alike, ultimately turned out in our official 4-star MOVIE STARTS review, which states:
“Thanks to a top cast, an explosive subject matter and such a good dash of cynicism, that even self-confessed non-cynics will laugh, ‘Lord Of War’ has everything an interesting film needs.”
Lord of War 2 is coming!
As has since been announced, a sequel to Lord Of War is in development. EAgain, Andrew Niccol will direct and write the script. Nicolas Cage also returns as arms dealer Yuri Orlov. The cast will also include Bill Skarsgård, who slipped into the role of the creepily iconic clown Pennywise in Stephen King’s horror IT.
In “Lord Of War 2”, Bill Skarsgård will take on the role of Yuri Orlov’s son Anton, who appeared as a toddler in the first part. Reportedly, part 2 should now make it clear that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Because this is all about Anton trying to stop his father and building a mercenary army to fight the American conflicts in the Middle East. This creates a bitter rivalry between father and son.
Filming on the Lord of War sequel is scheduled for fall 2023. It is not yet known who will be part of the cast besides Cage and Skarsgard.
