At the end of the eighth episode “She-Hulk: The Lawyer” on Disney+, it seems that the Intelligencia has won: the award ceremony for the best lawyer in town is said to be the big moment of Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany). But then the anonymous anti-She Hulk group played a sex tape secretly recorded by Jen. Of course, the victim immediately exploded: In She-Hulk form, she smashed the leaderboards, and for the first time in the series, she couldn’t control her anger. The gala event panicked, with people fleeing the building.
When She-Hulk attacks a man she believes is one of the masterminds behind the dirt campaign, she is surrounded by heavily armed guards. The Green “Lawyer of the Year” is shocked. But what does her look into the camera mean and how does the finale continue?
The very last shot of episode 8 confused us a bit when we first saw it, which is mainly due to the main character’s ambiguous facial expressions. It’s almost as if She-Hulk recognizes someone, her expression is both surprised and questioning, as if she’s thinking, “What the hell have you got? to search here?”.
But while we can’t rule out the possibility that a well-known character actually appeared here before Jen, out of view of the viewer, we believe the reason for the look is different.

In “She-Hulk” there are always situations where Jen or She-Hulk breaks through the so-called fourth wall, looks into the camera and speaks directly to the audience. Usually she always has a cheeky comment on her lips and/or makes jokes about the situations that happen to her in the series. But not so at the end of episode 8. She looks into the camera and can’t say a word. Instead, she’s just shocked that the monster burst out of her like that and the audience was watching her at the same time.
At that point, Jen knows full well that she’s screwed up pretty badly and that no quick joke can lessen the seriousness of her situation. This should clarify your view.
But somehow Jen has to get out of this mess. And so, one last episode awaits us, in which we strongly believe there will be another court hearing, this time with She-Hulk herself in the dock. Of course, that would be the perfect opportunity to bring back Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) aka Daredevil. After all, Jen needs the best lawyer she can get. However, we fear that we will not see the blind avenger from Hell’s Kitchen again for a while.
Then At this year’s Disney D23 show, Charlie Cox himself announced that his appearance in “She-Hulk” will be limited to a single episode. It’s true that it’s often the case that actors and actresses themselves don’t know exactly how their crazy scenes are used in the final product, and sometimes they just lie – Andrew Garfield, for example, claimed in numerous interviews that he would not appear in Spider-Man: No way home. But in this case, we tend to believe the Daredevil artist.
In addition, it already seems that the “She-Hulk” creators tried to put together a complete Daredevil package in Episode 8. Before long there was a court duel between Matt Murdock and Jen and a fight between Daredevil and She-Hulk. In addition, the two together beat up a criminal gang, came closer and ended up in the coffin together. There was even a variation of the gang fight scenes known from the “Daredevil” series.
We therefore assume that Jen will get her colleague Mallory Book (Renée Elise Goldsberry) as a lawyer at a hearing. After all, she’s also a capable lawyer who even specializes in superhero law.
But even if Matt Murdock doesn’t appear in Episode 9, there are plenty of other exciting performances to look forward to in the finale. For starters, there’s still the question of what happened to the blood sample Josh took from the sleeping Jen and sent to the HulkKing. We also still don’t know who the HulkKing actually is, or if he really is the leader of the Intelligencia, or if he’s just acting on behalf of someone else.
One thing seems almost certain, however, and that is that the last seen in The Incredible Hulk, Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) aka The Leader has something to do with it. After all, he is the founder of the Intelligencia in the comics, and just a few weeks ago it was confirmed that he would be returning in Captain America 4: New World Order. So “She-Hulk” could already be doing prep work for the 2024 cinema blockbuster and teasing the villain, say in a post-credits scene.
However, we doubt that the leader and the HulkKing are really the same person. The true identity of the internet agitator will surely be revealed in the finale of “She-Hulk”. We continue to suspect Todd (Jon Bass), who has behaved very strangely in the past when he asked what materials could be used to pierce She-Hulk’s skin, which was also important in obtaining the blood sample.
We’re also pretty sure we haven’t seen the last of Titania (Jameela Jamil) yet. In the wedding episode, she was greatly humiliated by Jen. Not only did she have to take a defeat in court and a beating. By revealing her real and especially very crooked teeth, the perfect image of the influencer has now disappeared. She now has no choice but to take revenge. And what does a person who hates She-Hulk do? Of course she joins Intelligencia!
With her thirst for revenge and her pre-existing superpowers, Titania would be the perfect guinea pig for the Leader to use the blood sample to create an even more powerful She-Hulk. In the Marvel Comics, it is even the Intelligencia group that is responsible for Red Hulk and Red She-Hulk. While the original Red She-Hulk is Betty Ross, daughter of MCU’s already established General Thaddeus Ross, the Disney+ series could change that and make Titania Red She-Hulk.
In any case, it would be a good idea – it’s not for nothing that the topic of Red (She) Hulk was briefly touched upon at the end of Episode 8, when Jen says, “Oh, there’s another Hulk, but he’s now red”. However, all this is just speculation. We’ll find out next week how the “She-Hulk” finale actually goes on. She-Hulk Episode 9 premieres October 13, 2022 on Disney+.
