Trailer for “Super Mario Bros.” released – everything we know about the movie

Let’s go!

The new trailer for “Super Mario Bros.” has been released and shows a first look at the animated film adaptation of Nintendo’s cult franchise.

In the trailer, Bowser and his huge, fiery castle crash into an ice kingdom. Bowser’s army of Koopa Troopas, led by Kamek de Magikoopa, takes on the legions of blue penguins featured in the Mario games.

In the next scene, the popular Italian plumber flies through a green pipe to the Mushroom Kingdom. The theme song “Mario” plays in the background when he wakes up and sees Toad. Toad leads Mario through a valley full of giant mushrooms as Princess Peach’s castle looms in the distance.

“Super Mario Bros.” was announced in 2021 and should have hit theaters this year. However, the theatrical release has been postponed to March 23, 2023.

Mario travels with his brother Luigi through an underground labyrinth and tries to rescue the imprisoned Princess Peach. More is not yet known about the plot of this adaptation.

The first reactions to the trailer are mostly positive. Fans love Jack Black as Bowser, the atmosphere of the trailer and the animations.

Only one thing is a thorn in the side of the fans: Chris Pratt as Mario. Pratt previously announced that Mario’s voice “is unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.” He worked with the producers on the voice for a long time to find the perfect voice. Mario makes only a small appearance in the trailer, but Chris Pratt’s normal voice can only be heard.

This annoys fans:

A fan already reworked the trailer with a more authentic Mario voice:
