“All the Light We Can’t See” seems to be a major prestige project for the red-N streaming service. The miniseries was created by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and Deadpool 3 director and Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy. Knight wrote all the screenplays, which Levy then directed. Both men have also served as producers and showrunners.
“All the Light We Cannot See” will launch globally and exclusively on the streaming service on November 2, 2023 Netflix. On that day, all four episodes will be made available to subscribers at once.
The miniseries is based on the world bestseller of the same name, which of course also appeared in German. The novel was written by Anthony Doerr, who won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for his work.
Baden-Baden’s Tobias A. Schliessler (“Lone Survivor”, “Boston”) was responsible for the camera work, which is already impressive in the trailer, while the score came from “The Hunger Games 1-4” composer James Newton Howard .
Meet the stars and the story of all the light we can’t see on Netflix
Louis Hofmann, who became a world star with the series phenomenon “Dark”, and newcomer Aria Mia Loberti can be seen in the two leading roles. The visually impaired Rhode Island actress was chosen from thousands of applicants by Knight and Levy.
Other key parts include: “The Avengers” star Mark Ruffalo, “Dr. House” titular character Hugh Laurie, Lars Eidinger (“Close Shot”), Luna Wedler (“The Most Beautiful Girl Alive”), Andrea Deck (“Homeland” ), James Dryden (“The Dig”) and season 3 and Marion Bailey 4 of De Kroon.

And that’s what “All the Light We Can’t See” is about: The miniseries tells the story of two teenagers in World War II. They are actually on different sides, but events and apparent fate inexorably drive them together. It is about the French Marie Laure (Aria Mia Loberti), who has been blind since she was six, and the German soldier Werner (Louis Hofmann).
In 1941, the girl left Nazi-occupied Paris with her father (Mark Ruffalo) and fled to the coast of Brittany, where her wayward great-uncle (Hugh Laurie) took her in. The orphan Werner, on the other hand, was forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht at a young age because of his technical talent and his excellent knowledge of French to help track down members of the resistance…
