This is the new “Alien” protagonist – Sigourney Weaver’s successor has been confirmed

It has long been known that an “Alien” series for the American broadcaster FX (including “Sons Of Anarchy”, “American Horror Story”) will be made. Noah Hawley, who already created Fargo and the Marvel story Legion for FX, is responsible for the series. And now there is also a leading lady.

This has been confirmed by the broadcaster will be the 27-year-old Sydney Chandler take on the coveted leading role. Chandler was last seen in theaters with “Don’t Worry Darling” and in the series “Pistol”, released in Germany on Disney+, which was also produced for FX.

For a glimpse of Chandler, here are some photos she posted to her Instagram profile while in Venice for the world premiere of Don’t Worry Darling:

The shooting of the Alien series will start in 2023. It is likely a prequel set many years before Ridley Scott’s “Alien” and is also said to be the first story in the series to be set on Earth.

A return, even for a cameo, of Sigourney Weavers Ripley is not expected – but not only because it makes little sense in terms of content. Wever himself recently explained this in an interview with the that her time with the franchise is over. There was the one Alien movie she would have loved to make with director Neill Blomkamp (“District 9”), she alludes to a long-circulating, then-unrealized project known as “Alien 5,” which follows the events of ” Alien 3″ and “Alien: Resurrection” would have been ignored and should tie in with “Aliens”. But after you couldn’t carry out this idea, it was finally over for her.

“Alien” series and “Alien” movie – both likely in 2024!

In addition to Noah Hawley’s “Alien” series, a new movie “Alien” is already being shot. “Alien: Romulus” is directed by Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead”) and is intended to be a completely independent story. Both projects should then appear in 2024. As mentioned, while “Alien: Romulus” is coming to cinemas, the series will premiere on American broadcaster FX. A release on the Disney+ streaming service is then expected for Germany.
