Every Action Fan Should Have Watched This Mega-Violent Netflix Blast – Starring From “Mortal Kombat” & “The Raid”

+++ Opinion +++

However, for those who can’t see blood, you can skip the rest of this article and the movie it’s about. Because if you thought that “The Raid” and “The Raid 2” or the new edition of “Mortal Kombat” could hardly be surpassed in terms of violence, you should learn a lesson from “The Night Comes For Us”.

The film has been available on Netflix in its entirety since October 2018 and is still not only one of the best known, but also one of the best and undoubtedly one of the most brutal. -Movies – those are those movies made in the wake of Gareth Evans’ “Raid” hits. But be careful: if the violence in it is already getting to you, “The Night Comes For Us” may finally be too much for you. On the other hand, if you have a soft spot not only for martial arts, but also for rampant slaughter orgies, you can look forward to a real treat – because the two have rarely been brought together on such a high level.

That’s what “The Night Comes For Us” is all about

The film revolves around Ito (Joe Taslim), who returns to his native clan in Jakarta after spending time in the service of the Southeast Asian Triads. But nothing is as it used to be.

War is raging in the underworld of the Indonesian capital, which is increasingly ruled by chaos and betrayal. The criminal gangs have long since jettisoned their principles and are now doing everything they can to expand their respective territories. Even if it leads to a bloody feud that claims victims on all sides…

A totally insane martial arts festival

That’s why “The Night Comes For Us” is worth checking out for martial arts fans: With ao “The Raid” protagonist Iko Uwais, Zack Lee and Julie Estelle, known from “The Raid 2”, as well as Joe Taslim, who also plays Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 2021, you get to see several action actors side by side who simply know their craft — and it’s no coincidence that they’ve made it to Hollywood in recent years. No garbled fights to hide stuntman use. Instead, you’ll see incredibly talented professionals practicing the art of martial arts in all its glory (and brilliance). A pleasure.

Why “The Night Comes For Us” Is Worth It For Gorehounds: In the dream factory, the screw of violence is usually only gently turned – even that in “Mortal Kombat” are extremely gory at times, but ultimately more fun than disturbing – director Timo Tjahjanto takes no prisoners. When skulls burst, bodies are divided or people are hung on meat hooks, “The Night Comes For Us” is so brutal and uncompromising that even seasoned action connoisseurs are left speechless. The genre has rarely produced such a highly choreographed, creatively staged and at the same time exuberant battle record.

For anyone who just can’t get enough of it, there’s also Tjahjanto’s predecessor film “Headshot” (also starring Iko Uwais) currently on Netflix, which isn’t quite as brutal but is still worth checking out for genre fans.
