Winnie the Pooh, known in Germany as Pu the Bear or Winnie the Pooh for short, was born in 1924. Children’s book author Alan Alexander Milne had written a book for his son at the time and made his stuffed animal the sweet protagonist of the story. Two years later, illustrator EH Shepard gave the fantasy bear his look and a classic was born: Winnie the Pooh is probably an item in almost every nursery these days, thanks in large part to the Disney Company, which bought the rights to the character in the 1960s and grew from into a giant franchise.
But Pu-Bear and his philanthropist Christopher Robin are no longer just the heroes of children’s books and movies for the younger generation. At the latest with the horror slasher “Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey”, which will be released in German cinemas on May 11, 2023, the audience should be quite mature – the film can be seen from 18 years .
And it’s far from over after that. How reported, is currently being held in aChristopher Robin‘ series for adults, which would be about an elderly, drug-addicted Christopher. In this variant, however, Pooh does not become a murderous monster, but most likely a funny sidekick – it is a comedy series that must score with black humor.
Incidentally, these various Pooh adaptations outside Disney are made possible by the fact that the copyright on the very first “Winnie the Pooh” story from the 1920s expired in 2022, so that everyone can use it completely freely for new stories.
That’s what “Christopher Robin” is all about
“Christopher Robin” will be an adult series portraying Robin as a disaffected New Yorker in the midst of a quarter-life crisis. The drugs allow Robin to communicate with the strange animals in the garden of his apartment building. It can be assumed that this is where Winnie the Pooh comes into play.
Similar to the 2018 Christopher Robin movie starring Ewan McGregor, the series will be a mix of live action and animation. However, it is not yet clear who will slip into the role of Robin. Written by Charlie Kesslering of Foreign Relations, the script is directed by Sausage Party creator Conrad Vernon. It can be assumed that we will also find the humor of the rough comedy about horny messages in the Pu series.
When and where “Christopher Robin” will play is not yet known.
