“Killers Of The Flower Moon” is a long overdue movie, and in several ways: the project has been in the works since 2016, and in 2017 Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro came on board. But despite this dream trio, it was not until 2020 that a financier was finally found for “Killers Of The Flower Moon”: Apple TV+ jumped in after Hollywood studio Paramount was given the huge budget of $ 200 million and not exactly an easily marketable premise cold feet.
Three years later, we’re still waiting for “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” which will hit theaters in 2023. A first trailer for “Killers Of The Flower Moon” was also shown at CinemaCon, which just ended in Las Vegas, which has not (yet) been published on the internet. Greeted with enthusiastic applause at CinemaCon, director Martin Scorsese reiterated that his film belongs in the cinema – which is exactly where it will be screened:
While the original is an Apple TV+, Killers Of The Flower Moon will (ironically) be released in Germany on October 19, 2023 in partnership with Paramount. The late western will appear on the streaming service at a later date.
This is Killers Of The Flower Moon
In addition to Apple and Paramount, Scorsese also thanked the Osage Nation, the Native Americans on whose territory “Killers Of The Flower Moon” was filmed and around whom the film’s plot revolves:
“Killers Of The Flower Moon” is set in the 1920s in the Osage Nation after valuable oil deposits were found there. Rich cattle baron William Hale (Robert De Niro) wants to get his hands on the black gold and is not afraid to kill the Osage.
He makes things with Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), of all people, who is married to Osage Mollie (Lily Gladstone). But an agent of the newly established FBI (Jesse Plemons) threatens to find out about the two…
