The already illustrious cast of the first installment gets new additions in “Dune: Part Two” including Marvel star Florence Pugh as Imperator’s daughter Irulan, Bond girl Léa Seydoux as Bene Geserit member Lady Margot and a hairless Austin Butler (“Elvis”) ) as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, described by director Denis Villeneuve as a mixture of psychotic-sociopathic serial killer and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. This is how Dune: Part Two continues
“Dune 2” connects seamlessly with the first part, with which only the first half of the first part of Frank Herbert’s cycle of novels “Dune” was filmed. Paul has allied himself with the native Fremen on the desert planet of Arrakis and, with their support, seeks vengeance against Baron Harkonnen and the other conspirators who destroyed his family.
Denis Villeneuve already promised that “Dune 2” will be an action-packed, epic war film in which everything must be different and even more spectacular and bombastic than in the overwhelming predecessor (for us the best film of 2021). Whether he can actually live up to this promise, we will know in more than half a year: “Dune: part two“ begins in German cinemas on November 2, 2023.
